NCWA Recession Reaction Report

The North Central Wholesalers Association’s (NCWA) latest report gives a snapshot of how wholesalers and reps have been coping with the prolonged recession. It is based on responses from 29 wholesalers and 13 rep agencies.

According to the report, 22 distributors used layoffs, while many wholesalers and reps also had wage cuts, fewer hours for employees (especially overtime) and made changes in benefits. The most common changes were higher cost to participate in health insurance coverage and reduction in 401k plans.

What about 2010? The most common prediction is a 5% increase, but report findings show that view is not shared by all.
