In his book “Built to Last,” Jim Collins reports that organizations drew by purpose and values outperform the general market 15 to 1. Your culture is a set of beliefs (think Chick-fil-A and its Christian values), behaviors (think IBM back in the day with its blue suits and white shirts), and commitment (think Apple and its perfectionism). The beliefs, behaviors and commitment that is engrained into your company will either act as an brake or accelerator to your innovation efforts.
