Affiliated Distributors Industrial sales grew 4% during the first quarter of 2013 on a same-store basis. Total sales grew to $1.4 billion from $1.35 billion.
Sales for all of AD’s affiliates, and in all divisions, grew by 5% in the first quarter for a total of $6.5 billion. Also, all the affiliates in each division outgrew in the quarter. The group opened 41 new locations and hired 1,079 new employees during the first three months of the year.
“There are several indicators that point to a slowing in the industrial industry at large with many manufacturers reporting results to be sales essentially flat for the first quarter,” said Jack Templin, AD’s president of the industrial supply division. “However, the AD’s industrial division outperformed the market, an objective we strive for every quarter.”
