3M Fire Barrier Water Tight Silicone Sealants meet the new Underwriters Laboratories W Rating - Class One requirements for water tightness when used on horizontal floor penetrations. The company said it is the first manufacturer to meet these requirements. Its firestopping systems help reduce the chance of water damage and help protect builders, owners and occupants from potential problems associated with water and moisture intrusion. The sealants are used to firestop interior construction voids around blanks, metallic, nonmetallic and insulated pipe, cable, cable trays, busways, HVAC ducts and combos in floor and wall penetrations. The UL W Rating - Class One subjects the system to a three-foot water column for 72 hours followed by a fire and hose stream test.
