“This difficult decision was made due to economic reasons generated by intense competition in the marketplace from offshore competitors and the need to lower overall costs,” the Dover Post quoted OASIS as saying. “We regret this decision had to be made; however, the company believes that it is necessary in order to protect the long-term viability of the organization.”
When Sunroc was acquired by OASIS in 2003 Sunroc reported annual sales of $50 million. The company was established in 1922 under the name Sunroc Spring Water Co. It acquired CORDLEY/ Temprite, a bottled water cooler division of Elkay Manufacturing Co. in April 2001.
A private, family-owned company, OASIS also has manufacturing facilities in California, Ireland and Poland.
