SGL Acotec GmbH, a member of the SGL Carbon Group that specializes in industrial corrosion protection, has developed a GRP bonded tube system capable of handling highly corrosive media at temperatures of up to 200 degrees C (392 degress F), reported KWD-globalpipe (www.kwd-globalpipe.com) .

Going by the name Keraverin PTFE, the tubing is distinguished by brand-new liner material and a specially developed process system that makes it affordable. It is particularly well suited for use in the pipeline systems of chemical plants, where maximum safety and reliability are a priority. It is a seamless and largely no-flange system. Where needed, flanges of the same material are provided.

SGL Acotec views it as a substitution product for conventional metal tubes with enamel or loose-shirt lining. The process arose from a specific market requirement in which a chemical industry client asked for a technical solution for the general weak points at flanged joints of a pipeline system. Also, permeation of the liner led to corrosion of the outer steel piping.

SGL Carbon Group is headquartered in Wiesbaden, Germany, with U.S. sales office in Charlotte, NC (www.sglcarbon.com). The company was formed in 1992 as a merger between SIGRI (Germany) and Great Lakes Carbon (U.S.).
