Johnstone Supply, Portland, Ore., held its 2005 annual meeting in Philadelphia, where it announced another year of record-setting sales and growing market share. More than 1,100 store owners and personnel, product vendor representatives, trade associations and corporate executives attended. The event was held in September and included business and marketing seminars, a trade show with booths, sales achievement awards and the formal unveiling of the cooperative's revised business plan. According to President/CEO Gary Daniels, sales for the first eight months of 2005 are 18.3% higher than last year and more than double the industry median sales growth of 8.6%. Johnstone, which has 300 locations nationwide, has set a goal to achieve $1 billion in sales in 2006. Mark Blackburn of Wilmington, N.C., a Johnstone member since 1999, received the Single Store of the Year award and Tom Wallace was presented with the Leadership award for exceptional commitment and service to the cooperative. This award has been given only seven times since 1988. Arkema was honored as Supplier of the Year and Goodman Manufacturing was presented with the Ten-Carat Award.
