Plumbing and heating wholesale distributor Rubenstein Supply has reached their “Oak” Anniversary: 80 years in business.

Founded in 1943 during the Great Depression by three brothers, Henry Rubenstein, Morris Rubenstein and Bob Rubenstein, the company got its start salvaging plumbing fixtures from their father’s building demolition business. The brothers built a wholesale plumbing distribution company which they operated together for over forty years. Still family run, Bob’s son Craig has owned and operated the business since 2002. The original building is still located at 28th & San Pablo Avenue in Oakland and the company has seen tremendous growth over the years.

“From the original three founders in the early 1940’s, to over 70 incredible team members today, it’s been quite a journey. From recessions to shortages to pandemics we’ve seen and experienced it all. I can’t begin to thank all of the employees and customers over the years who have been part of this amazing ride and made this journey possible. From my uncles running the company in its humble beginnings to Matt today, Rubenstein Supply Company has never been in more capable hands or better positioned to move forward. I couldn’t be more grateful,” says owner Craig Rubenstein.

Rubenstein Supply President Matt Laiolo, who’s been with the company since 1991 credits our people for the longevity and success of the business. “Treat others as you would like to be treated. That goes for team members, customers and vendor partners.

Now with four wholesale locations in the Bay Area plus a new retail showroom with one of the largest TOTO displays in California, Rubenstein Supply is poised to offer their customers the largest inventory selection and the most proactive customer service in the industry for decades to come.
