Looking back at this past year, I want to leave you with a few notes about some of the ASA events I thought were extra special for me and also some other things that make ASA so special as our industry’s only national trade association.

Q3 GDP trended at 4% based on the latest available data, but much of the visibility needed is still delayed. Most estimates suggest the government shutdown, because of its duration, may have brought Q3 GDP down to 1.5%. This is still reasonable given the circumstances. 

Attracting women is only half the battle, retaining them is also a challenge. Many women leave the trades not because of the work itself, but because of a lack of support or growth opportunities. 

Nearly three in four ASA members say their companies are already experimenting with AI, while 38 percent report they are exploring use cases, while 34 percent are piloting one or more AI tools.

Faith, stewardship, and a people-first leadership style have shaped Miller’s 45-year career at Eastern. As he prepares to serve as the American Supply Association’s 2026 president, he aims to bring that spirit to the PHCP-PVF community by encouraging members, promoting smart technology adoption, and building a stronger future together.

The American Supply Association's Industrial Piping Division has awarded Alan Lipp, co-CEO of Merit Brass in Cleveland, Ohio, the 2025 IPD Award of Excellence for his significant achievements and dedicated service to the industrial and mechanical PVF segment of the PHCP-PVF industry.

All respondents to the new report reported a median August sales increase of +2.8% y/y, but -6% vs. July 2025. Calendar-year YTD sales +6.4%; TTM sales +6.7%. Inventory: +6% versus August 2024. Cash cycle: Median three-month average days' sales outstanding fell to 41 days.
