I liked the name Frankenstorm because it was so visual, this being a few days before Halloween and all.

I was in Santa Monica, Calif., on a short vacation when Bob called to tell me Ray died. I hadn’t seen Ray in years, but I think about him every time I walk up to the front of a seminar room. I always look around to see if he’s there, and I always sweat a bit, thinking he might be. And here’s why.

It’s an old joke. I show you a beat-up old axe and tell you that this is American history. It’s the very axe George Washington used to chop down that cherry tree.

While researching people who subscribe to magazines, an advertising company came across an elderly farmer who recently began subscribing to both National Geographic and Playboy.

So I’m in Europe and telling these nice guys about my 77-year-old Aunt Lucy and how she moved into her studio apartment on Second Ave. in New York City back when J.F.K. was just taking the oath of office.

I heard they had let Russ go when I was out with some contractor friends. It just came up in the conversation and that was that. The company had been bought by another company some years back and the owners of the original company had done their time and moved on. Russ stayed because no one could imagine him anywhere else. And I say that because of the way the guy worked.
