In 1952 when Dale Reese founded Standard Plumbing Supply out of Ogden, Utah, he slept in the warehouse until he was able to afford rent — $30 per month at the time.

This past year has been an unprecedented year for the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) space, hitting $5 trillion in volume in 2021 through over 40,000 transactions. The number of transactions in the distribution and manufacturing space has caused owners to take a closer look at their options regarding selling and/or acquisition options.

On Aug. 16, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA). While the bill claims it will, “make a historic down payment on deficit reduction to fight inflation, invest in domestic energy production and manufacturing, and reduce carbon emissions by roughly 40% by 2030,” plumbing associations aren’t convinced the IRA will do much — if anything — to reduce inflation or benefit small businesses or the American consumer.

The work highlighted in the first report was inspired by Beveridge’s travel across the country during two seasons of the We Supply America tour, when he visited dozens of distributors and saw firsthand the challenges that leadership is facing.

The American Supply Association recently announced the hirings of Fabian Tovar as Education Engagement Manager and Brianna Baresel as Manager of Data & Market Intelligence.

Kelly and Cline’s arrival comes as two PHCP Business Unit leaders step away from AD. Linda Hoff, who served as Director of the Decorative Brands Division, retired in August, and Jeff Konen, Vice President, Supplier Programs, Plumbing and PVF Divisions, plans to retire at the end of the year.
