Ferguson acquires New England-based Redlon & Johnson

Ferguson will operate from the former R&J locations as Redlon & Johnson, a Ferguson enterprise.

March 18, 2015

Ferguson Enterprises recently announced the acquisition of substantially all the assets of Redlon & Johnson Supply, a division of The Gage Co. Ferguson will operate from the former R&J locations as Redlon & Johnson, a Ferguson enterprise.

Redlon & Johnson is a leading New England distributor of plumbing, heating, cooling, water system, pipe, valves, fittings and industrial products. The company is headquartered in Portland, Maine, and has 10 locations throughout Maine and New Hampshire and 125 associates. Redlon & Johnson primarily serves the residential contractor, providing plumbing and heating products to the repair/replace/remodel market. Four of its locations include a design center/showroom where homeowners can view and select kitchen-and-bath products, similar to Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Galleries nationwide.

“The acquisition of Redlon & Johnson serves as a strong platform for growth in the Northeast,” Ferguson CEO Frank Roach said. “We are pleased to welcome the associates of Redlon & Johnson to the Ferguson family and we look forward to serving the trade professionals and homeowners of Maine and New Hampshire.”

“We are excited and full of optimism for Redlon & Johnson to take the next step in its history,” Redlon & Johnson CEO Rick Chute said. “Combining the superior service and products Redlon & Johnson is known for with all the resources and expertise of Ferguson is a big advantage for our associates and especially for our customers.”

Redlon & Johnson is the 10th acquisition Ferguson has closed this fiscal year; previous acquisitions include waterworks, plumbing and HVAC companies. The company said it will continue to look for acquisitions that integrate seamlessly with its core businesses.

Ferguson acquires California waterworks company

Ferguson also acquired Equarius in an asset transaction in early March. Post-acquisition, the company will operate as Equarious Waterworks, Meter & Automation Group, a Ferguson enterprise. Ferguson said management and all employees will remain with Equarius.

Equarius is the exclusive Neptune Meter distributor for the state of California. It serves the California water utility industry through direct sales to municipalities and special water districts, in addition to the sub-metering market with sales to wholesalers, contractors, universities and other government agencies.

“Ferguson is focused on growing our waterworks footprint in the West,” Roach said. “Equarius is a great company and we are excited to have them on-board to expand our metering business in California.”

Equarius President Eric Tracy added, “Equarius is excited about becoming part of the much larger Ferguson family, and we look forward to offering even more products and services to our customer base.”

Ferguson Waterworks supplies products and services to support water, sanitary sewer and storm water management needs. It has a coast-to-coast network of 194 waterworks locations and 1,600 technically trained waterworks associates.
