ASA recently joined Industrial Careers Pathway as its newest ICP Alliance Partner. Industrial Careers Pathway is a multifaceted North American workforce initiative supported by an alliance of industry associations.

Addressing the need for a skilled industrial distribution, manufacturing sales and customer-service workforce for today and tomorrow, ICP links students and jobseekers to career paths in industrial distribution and manufacturing through partnerships with local educators and employers. Other ICP Alliance Partners include Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution, International Society of Automation Educational Foundation and the Power Transmission Distributors Foundation.

ASA Executive Vice President Mike Adelizzi believes a partnership with ICP will help ASA’s members with one of their toughest challenges — building awareness of the incredibly rewarding careers in their industry. “Industrial distribution offers a wide range of career paths, from sales to warehouse operations, from finance to marketing to management,” he says. “Yet our industry, like others in distribution management, struggles to connect with quality individuals who can benefit from a long career in industrial distribution. ASA saw a partnership with ICP as a way to help our industry connect with our industry’s future workforce.”

Through the collective support of alliance partners and their member companies, ICP is devoted to building awareness among the elusive 18-34-year-old audience about the incredibly rewarding careers available in industrial distribution. Recent endeavors in support of this mission include video clips providing advice on finding a job in industrial distribution, an industry-specific ICP job board demonstrating that industrial distributors are hiring, and a website loaded with solid information on careers in the field of industrial distribution and designed to attract the target 18-34-year-old audience.
