Stephanie Radel

AGE: 39

COMPANY: GF

TITLE: Director, Hot and Cold Water Category, Americas

How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

I’ve spent 20 years in the plumbing industry, beginning in plumbing design before moving into product development, and now category strategy. This journey has given me a full view of the value chain, from drawings and specifications to jobsite installation, to the long-term performance of systems. Each step has reinforced how critical plumbing is to the health, safety and reliability of our built environment.

What drew you into the industry?

I was drawn to this industry because of its direct impact on people’s lives. Safe and reliable water delivery is fundamental to every community, and I wanted to be part of shaping the systems that make it possible. The PVF space uniquely combines technical problem solving with meaningful innovation, allowing me to work at the intersection of engineering and real-world application.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

The most rewarding part is seeing how our solutions improve the industry. Whether it’s enhancing water quality, reducing noise in sensitive spaces like recovery rooms, simplifying installation for contractors, or extending the lifecycle of buildings, there’s a real sense of purpose in the work. Knowing that what we do improves daily life for people and communities is what makes this industry so special.

What motivates you every day?

Whether it’s new material technologies, efficiency goals or workforce dynamics, I am challenged by this industry’s evolving needs. I’m also energized by collaboration. Working alongside colleagues, customers and partners to bridge the gap between forward-looking solutions and practical, jobsite-ready applications keeps me engaged and inspired every day.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

I wish more people recognized just how innovative this industry truly is. It’s not simply about pipes and fittings; it’s about advancing water, enhancing safety, ensuring long-term reliability, and strengthening the resilience of buildings and communities. Behind every project are problem solvers and innovators whose work often goes unseen yet is essential. And while the industry continually drives new solutions, meaningful innovation takes time; finding ways to accelerate that progress is one of our ongoing challenges.

What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?

One of my proudest moments has been mentoring designers and product managers in the plumbing industry. Watching them tackle complex challenges, develop creative solutions, and gain confidence has been incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I’ve played a small part in shaping the next generation of industry leaders reminds me that investing in people is just as important as developing products; it’s how we ensure the future of the industry continues to grow and innovate.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know that my husband and I farm a small piece of land with my brother, where we harvest corn and beans. Working it connects me to my roots, and has taught me patience, planning, and the importance of nurturing growth over time; lessons I carry into my work in the plumbing industry, where creating resilient, reliable systems requires the same care and long-term perspective.
