How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

I started as a marketing intern for a manufacturer’s representative in 2006 when I was 20 years old. May of this year marked my 19th year in the industry.

What drew you into the industry?

It was a stroke of luck—the right place at the right (and wrong) time. I was in college and needed an internship to graduate, and one of my close college friends, who was working as an inside salesperson at The Joyce Agency, helped me get the role of Marketing Intern for their HVAC division. I graduated right as the economy took a nosedive in late 2007/early 2008, but I was offered a full-time position in inside sales with the plumbing group. I took that position and ran with it. I was lucky to work for the Joyces for 15 years during which Todd and Troy Joyce let me explore many different roles within the organization. Eventually, I realized marketing was my passion, and I’ve worked in that space since 2019.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

The people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and the ability to grow in my field have been very rewarding. First and foremost, I love my colleagues at Delco Sales. They are some of the best in the business and it’s a privilege to work with them. Furthermore, the professional organizations in this industry are top-notch. I’m on the Watts Marketing Representative Council, which has offered me a number of educational opportunities to grow and learn in the field of marketing. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention ASA’s Women In Industry conference. The ability to come together every year and discuss different aspects of the industry with such accomplished women is always the highlight of my year.

What motivates you every day?

My three daughters – Harper, Hannah, and Ruby. I work remotely so they get a very good look into what I do all day long. I want them to know that hard work pays off and you don’t ever have to be just one thing in life – a partner, OR a mother, OR a professional, OR even a rec league soccer coach occasionally. Just like my mom taught me, they know it’s ok to pursue your dreams fiercely. I’ve had amazing bosses, mentors, and coworkers who have helped me navigate all those aspects of life. I’m really proud of who I work with and who I work for. When you feel that way about your organization, you know you’re in the right spot.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

It’s still largely a male-dominated industry, but it’s not a man’s world. There’s a lot of room for women, and there’s also a lot of room for creativity and fun. Aside from that, it’s also important work— plumbing keeps every one of us safe from waterborne illnesses every single day. It shouldn’t be taken for granted!

What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?

I’m really proud of the work I’ve done at Delco Sales. Marketing at the rep level is still somewhat non-existent or a part-time endeavor for a lot of agencies. Chris Nicosia and Larry Burchill saw the vision and have supported it every step of the way, including growing our marketing efforts. Just shy of my two-year anniversary at Delco this summer, we brought on a second full-time marketer.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I have a heart for all animals. I’ve rescued dogs, cats, guinea pigs, ducks, birds, and bunnies. I’d love to own a mini farm someday.
