PMI announced the election of Martin Knieps as president of the 2022 PMI Board of Directors during PMI’s 67th Annual Meeting of the Membership yesterday. The senior director of operational excellence at Viega, Knieps succeeds Todd Teter, senior vice president and general manager of the Professional Plumbing Group House of Rohl North America, a division of Moen. Teter will remain on the board as immediate past president. The meeting was held during the PMI21 Manufacturing Success Conference in San Diego.
Plumbing Manufacturers International 2021 Virtual Legislative Forum prepared PMI's members for upcoming advocacy efforts at the federal and state levels, as lawmakers debate infrastructure packages, climate legislation and government spending within the context of a strong economic recovery. Presenters also discussed federal procurement requirements and anti-counterfeiting legislation.
PMI’s efforts to have plumbing manufacturers designated as essential businesses by the federal government were successful, allowing PMI member companies to keep production lines moving, sustain employment, and contribute to the national effort against a deadly virus.
PMI joined with the Buy Safe America Coalition, a group of retailers, consumer groups, wholesaler-distributors and manufacturers, to support and advance the INFORM Consumers Act. Introduced in the U.S. Senate on March 23, the legislation is designed to protect consumers from counterfeit and stolen products sold online, which has become a growing problem.
