Triangle Tube introduced the modulating Delta, a gas fired, sealed combustion combination heater that simultaneously provides both hydronic heat and domestic hot water. A built-in microprocessor constantly monitors the temperature of the heating water, domestic water and flue temperatures. Emerson Climate Technologies reported that its final quarterly 13 SEER survey from 2005 showed a majority of HVAC contractors (56%) have serious economic and technical concerns as the 13 SEER regulation goes into effect. The survey, the last in a series, asked HVAC contractors and distributors across the industry questions to gauge their awareness, planning, actions and concerns regarding the new regulation.
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) has opened a 16,000-sq.-ft. state-of-the-art testing facility in the metro-Dallas area dedicated to energy efficiency testing of heat pumps, air conditioning equipment and electrically-operated vapor compression refrigeration systems. The new test lab will help HVAC/R manufacturers develop more energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment.
