Approximately 1.7 billion people do not have basic hygiene services at home. The human cost is devastating: more than 1,000 children under the age of five die every day from diseases spread by unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, and inadequate hygiene.

ASA members stayed busy in 2025, taking full advantage of ASA University’s tools and training to boost employee performance and drive profitability across their businesses. National labor studies conducted by ASA confirm what members experience, including retirements outpacing new hires, and traditional recruiting methods alone are no longer enough. These concerns were reinforced during ASA’s 2025 LEAD Strategic Leadership Summit in early 2025, where volunteers emphasized the need for stronger outward-facing efforts to elevate the industry’s profile and attract new talent.
On February 25, 2026, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Don’t Mess with my Home Appliances Act, 217-190 with bipartisan votes. HARDI applauds the passage of legislation to repeal the use of the date of installation as the compliance deadline for regional energy efficiency standards.

In this role, Joe will lead Rinnai America's Innovation organization, providing strategic direction for innovation, product strategy, and technology advancement across North America.
At issue are DOE’s efficiency standards that would require furnaces and some commercial water heaters to change venting features to accommodate condensation caused by fuel combustion. HARDI and its partners argue that the DOE’s action undermines long-standing statutory protections designed to preserve consumer choice and maintain access to affordable and reliable heating options, particularly in replacement situations that do not meet the more complex venting requirements.
LSW and Carr Company already share several manufacturers and customers, creating immediate operational synergies. Many builders and contractors served by Carr Company operate across both Florida and the Carolinas, supporting a more integrated regional approach.
The Emerging Leaders Division of ASA continues to gain momentum, so much so that the Advisory Group met this past summer near O’Hare Airport in Chicago to chart its future, one that includes a pivot to year-round programming for industry up-and-comers, while still presenting the group’s annual EMERGE education, best practices, and networking forum.
