The PVF Roundtable’s annual Don Caffee Memorial Golf Tournament, which raises money for the PVF Roundtable Scholarship Fund enjoyed a record turnout in mid-May at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.

PVF Roundtable President Joe Pro (Penn Machine) said a record 296 golfers participated in the event. Pro added sponsorship commitments to this year’s tournament also were at record levels. “The support of our sponsors allows us to do what we do here,” Pro told Supply House Times. “The golf tournament was a huge success.”

In the May issue of Supply House Times, Pro noted the organization has earmarked $125,000 toward university industrial distribution and trade certification program scholarships this year. The Roundtable’s two major fundraising arms for that are the golf tournament and the TroutBlast fishing event that will be held in early October in Matagorda, Texas.

A day later, the spring PVF Roundtable was held at the Westin Galleria in Houston. Another robust crowd of 502 registrants gathered for more than three-hours of continuous networking. The May event is one of two all-networking Roundtables scheduled for 2015.

“This clearly is one of the great venues now where you get a chance to network with so many people from around the country and even some who come in internationally,” Pro said. “It’s become the place to be.”

Pro said membership Roundtable membership levels continue to rise. “Our industry goes through cycles and even with it being a little soft in our industry right now membership continues to grow month by month,” he said. “We’re approaching 215 to 220 members now and we will look to continue to grow and get the word out.”
