Spot copper averaged $3.5192 on Comex during April up 12.4¢,
or 3.6% over $3.3954 in March, and rose $1.47 or 72% over $2.0461 in April
2009.
The year-to-date average now stands at $3.3429, up $1.66, or 98% over $1.6870 during the first four months of 2009.
Inventories held in Comex and LME warehouses fell 13,127 MT or 2.2% during April to close the month at 591,042 MT. In comparison to last year, however, inventories have risen 148,746 MT, or 34% from 442,296 MT last April.
