William D. O'Hagan, 66, passed away last month after a year-long battle with lung cancer.



William D. O'Hagan, 66, passed away last month after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Harvey L. Karp, Chairman of Mueller Industries, Inc., issued the following statement:
"We are deeply saddened to report the loss of William D. O'Hagan. Our company has lost a dear friend, an inspirational leader and a man of the highest ethics and integrity. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill's wife, June, and his family. Our deepest sympathies go out to them."

O’Hagan was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2007. The company announced Sept. 16 O’Hagan would step down from full-time duties at Mueller effective Dec. 31 to concentrate on his health.

Greg L. Christopher, Chief Operating Officer, who had previously been appointed CEO effective Jan. 1, 2009, will take the position effective immediately.

"He was a great friend, mentor and leader to our industry,” said Christopher. “He was an individual whose involvement in our lives will leave lasting memories for many years to come."

Based in Memphis, Mueller Industries manufacturers copper tube and fittings; brass and copper alloy rod, bar and shapes; aluminum and brass forgings; aluminum and copper impact extrusions; plastic fittings and valves; refrigeration valves and fittings; and fabricated tubular products.
