An IBM Premier Business Partner, VAI develops enterprise software solutions for the distribution, manufacturing, retail and service industries.

Vormittag Associates Inc. (VAI) has grown from a regional software development firm to its current position as a prominent industry leader with a growing global client base and expanding operations.

“When I launched VAI in 1978, I envisioned a software firm that was customer-focused, technology-driven and market adaptable,” said Bob Vormittag, president/CEO. “As we celebrate our 30th year in business, our expansion into industries and locations around the globe is greater than I had initially imagined. VAI continually strives to meet the needs of international businesses, large and small. VAI’s software, together with the IBM Power Systems platform, will lead us into the future with a technology solution that will continue the VAI tradition of providing flexible, scalable, easily implementable and affordable enterprise management software.”

Continued corporate expansion, new client implementations and research and development initiatives have been among the company’s major goals in the last year.

Corporate Expansion

VAI is headquartered in Ronkonkoma, NY, with branch offices in Miami, Orlando, Newport Beach and Oroville, CA. The company recently opened an office in Oak Brook, IL, about 20 miles west of downtown Chicago, its second site in the Chicago metro area. The first location in this area was opened in Yorkville, 50 miles west of Chicago.

A number of VAI’s partner alliances include companies with technology meant to enhance its S2K Software Solutions, while providing clients with the added functionality needed to grow their businesses. The integration of UPS Logistics Technologies Roadnet Transportation Suite this year allows VAI’s customers to generate numerous routing options for maximized fleet investment, especially critical with the steady increase in oil prices.

In addition, VAI partnered with Stony Brook University’s Center of Excellence in Wireless & Information Technology (CEWIT) (www.cewit.org). Stony Brook computer science graduate students are providing programming resources to aid VAI in the development of several e-commerce applications utilizing IBM’s Websphere software.

New Client Implementations

In the past year, VAI has expanded its worldwide customer base from various vertical markets, including the manufacturing, distribution and retail industries. Among the company’s 750 customers are major brands such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Roto Rooter, Turtle Wax, Konica and Baccarat Crystal.

Research & Development Initiatives

VAI has added hundreds of new features and capabilities to its applications that continue to promote best practice concepts that can help companies improve operational efficiencies and achieve their business objectives.
