The acquisition includes the eight service centers that operate as the Davidson Group, including Gilmour Supply Co., T&A Valve, Monotube Pile Corp., Specialty Pipe & Tube and Davidson Pipe.
Davidson Pipe, with its eight locations, was ranked No. 61 in Supply House Times’ Premier 150 listing of wholesalers, and No. 18 among the top 50 PVF wholesalers (May 2007).
Peter Davidson, current president of Davidson, will continue to lead the Davidson group as general manager, reporting to Robert Braig, vice president of the Industrial and Specialty Business Group for Wolseley’s North American division.
“I am delighted that we have finally been able to enter the New York City industrial and commercial market,” Chip Hornsby, group chief executive of Wolseley, said in a statement.
“All of the associates of The Davidson Group of companies are thrilled about the future prospects resulting from this acquisition,” Davidson told Supply House Times. “It could not have happened if the cultures of both companies were not so similar. It should be noted that all current officers, managers, and other associates will remain with the new company.
“The potential for growth resulting from this combination is truly exciting,” he noted. “Given the extraordinary management skills and purchasing power of Ferguson, and the 100+ years of customer relationships earned by Davidson, we are greatly looking forward to an increased presence in each of our markets.”
