The Heating, Airconditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) joined the Coalition For A Democratic Workplace to become one of nearly 30 national trade associations and a number of regional and state organizations to create a coalition against H.R. 800, or the so-called “Employee Free Choice Act.” Otherwise referred to as the “Card Check” bill, it would amend the National Labor Relations Act that was signed into law by Franklin Roosevelt in 1935 by enabling unions to be formed and certified as negotiating bodies with signatures on union authorization cards from a majority of employees without any secret ballot ratification.
