Chicago Faucets Closes Des Plaines Plant

When negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers proved unsuccessful, Chicago Faucets ceased manufacturing operations at its Des Plaines, Ill., facility, effective Sept. 1. Some operations formerly performed there will be moved to the company's facilities in Milwaukee and Michigan City, Ind.; others will be outsourced to third parties.

Chicago Faucets has been in operation for more than 100 years. Many of the employees who worked in the Des Plaines plant had been with the company 30 to 40 years and were second and third generation employees. Chicago Faucets said it has had a long relationship with the IAM union and its members who were employed at this location.

“We value our employees and the years of experience and knowledge they brought to the production of CFC products,” the company said in a statement. “While we were unable to negotiate a mutually beneficial contract that would accommodate the many factors affecting our business, CFC will continue to produce a quality product for our customers.”

Chicago Faucets, a member of the Geberit Group, manufactures faucets, stops and supplies; foodservice products, hospital and laboratory products; and safety equipment. For more information, visit www.chicagofaucets.com or call 800-323-5060.
