Maria Kirchner, 82, owner and CEO of Baltimore's Monumental Supply Co., died in March after a brief battle with cancer. She took over the company following the demise of husband and company founder Robert Kirchner in 1983.

Kirchner had started the PVF company in 1950. It has grown steadily from tiny quarters at the start to today's 150,000-sq.-ft. facility. The company is headed today by President Edward Zimmerman, Vice President of Operations & Human Resources Susan Kirchner, and Vice President of Sales & Marketing Jack Joiner.

Although Maria Kirchner was not a member of any industry associations, she was active in the American Heart Association and other local charities and instrumental in obtaining a Minority Business Enterprise and Woman Business Enterprise status for government contracts. Survivors include her daughters, Stacie and Susan, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Baltimore, 10085 Red Run Blvd., Suite 401, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
