Northwest Pipe Co. finalized its acquisition of North American Pipe for $5.6 million.

Northwest Pipe Co. finalized its acquisition of North American Pipe, a manufacturer of custom-fabricated piping assemblies, for $5.6 million. North American's two Saginaw, Texas, facilities employ nearly 140 people. The company, which reported annual sales of $18 million, now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Northwest Pipe.

Northwest Pipe Chief Executive Officer William R. Tagmyer said that the acquisition was another step in the firm's strategy of extending its reach in water-infrastructure markets.

"North American's involvement in the manufacture of complex piping assemblies for water-treatment-plant applications is complementary to our historic focus on major water pipelines," he stated. "We expect this acquisition to be an excellent fit in our Water Transmission Group."

John Taylor continues as president.
