The Home Depot opened its first EXPO Design Center in Houston. While its overall design fits the prototype of the Boynton Beach, Fla., unit opened last November, the Houston facility has more bath and kitchen showrooms than its predecessors.

The newest EXPO has 80 mini-showrooms for the kitchen and bath, 11 lighting showrooms, separate showcases for accessories, patios and floor and wall coverings, and a take-home gallery featuring do-it-yourself items such as faucets.

EXPO, a division of The Home Depot, now has nine locations: Atlanta, Ga.; Dallas, Houston and Plano, Texas; San Diego; Long Island, N.Y.; and Miami, Davie and Boynton Beach, Fla. More units are planned to open this year in Fairfax, Va., Alpharetta, Ga., Monrovia, Calif., and Huntington Beach, Calif. Home Depot has said it plans to open 200 EXPOs by 2007.
