The expectation is that prices for HDPE will remain lower until spring. There have been no significant supply disruptions but sluggish demand of late pulled prices lower toward the end of the year. There was a sharp December price drop attributed to a larger-than-expected stockpile of feedstock and resins. Spot HDPE fell to 0.53/lb., down from 2018 highs of 0.68/lb.

Much of this price drop is expected to reverse in the spring months. Tariff concerns have affected this sector as well, mostly on an indirect basis.

The American Supply Association (ASA) and its Industrial Piping Division (IPD) is the national organization serving wholesaler-distributors and their suppliers in the industrial and mechanical pipe-valve-fitting industry.  As a powerful alliance of channel partners, we provide a forum for your upstream trading partners to exchange critical information and address key issues.
