Carbon steel fittings & flanges report: December 2018
Fourth-quarter 2018 prices were flat. Upward price pressure was reduced as distributors located sources not subject to import duties. Pricing is expected to remain flat through Q1 2019. USA rig counts per Baker Hughes reflect an increase 2018 over 2017 of 144 rigs. Pipeline issues and product transportation continue to be an obstacle to continued growth in the Permian Basin.
Domestic forged steel manufacturers are increasing domestic pricing 12-15%, between now and 1/1/19 (which was reported last few months). Import production has shifted to China and India after dumping lawsuits against Taiwan. Supply is strong and lead times range from stock to four weeks.
