It is often said profit is made on the buy side of the equation in wholesale distribution. That is a true statement. However, it only holds true if you are disciplined enough not to give that profit advantage away during the quoting and pricing process.

During the ICC hearings this spring in Dallas, the Plumbing Code hearing (discussed in last month’s column) was straddled by the Fuel Gas and Mechanical Code hearings. The first hearing was on the Fuel Gas Code.

With so much up for grabs during this election cycle in the United States, mid-May was the appropriate time for members of the American Supply Association to descend upon Washington and partake in ASA’s annual Legislative Fly-in.

Thanks to the new process, the ICC code hearings for the plumbing, mechanical and fuel gas codes are only held once every three years. So the last week of April and first week of May was it for next three years.
