Due to matters such as geopolitical instability, interest rate uncertainties, labor shortages, and increased demand for domestic manufactured goods, industrial distributors had to adapt to changing market conditions.
Prices stabilized around the $4.30 level after the White House postponed new tariffs for 90 days. Since then, copper has regained some ground, supported by signals that Washington may be pursue negotiations with China and by rising expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut in June.
Each year, the Premier 150 Distributors survey is conducted by BNP Media Market Research. BNP Media is the parent company of Supply House Times. The data from the survey is used to rank the top 150 PHCP-PVF industry distributors based on each company’s reported sales from the previous fiscal year. This list is based off fiscal year 2024.
Same-store sales increased by 2% in the U.S., 2% in Canada, and 3% in Mexico, in their respective currencies. Within AD’s nine industries, same store growth in Plumbing, PVF and HVAC were the most robust. Member purchases from AD suppliers grew 19%.
As the second Donald Trump Administration begins, industries are cautious due to tariff uncertainty impacting transportation, diesel prices, and labor costs. Air freight demand may slow due to low consumer confidence, according to Ceva Logistics 2025. While capacity is rising, concerns about oversupply could lead to carrier adjustments or a drop in freight rates.
