Apax Partners recently acquired Activant Solutions and Epicor Software Corp. with the intention of combing both technology companies into one global provider. The new company, which will be called Epicor Software Corporation, will provide enterprise applications focused on the manufacturing, distribution, retail and services sectors.
”Not only will customers and prospects benefit from a history of visionary innovation in business software and deep vertical industry expertise, but they will also benefit from the combined company’s increased scale and expanded service offerings,” said Jason Wright, a partner at Apax Partners.
Epicor's proficiency in the manufacturing and services sectors perfectly complements Activant’s market leadership in distribution, which opens up their ability to leverage highly complementary product lines in enterprise resource planning (ERP systems) and business software solutions. Benefits of the partnership also include a broader channel partner program and an expanded geographic reach.
Changes in management structure will be announced in the coming weeks.
