Danfoss has moved its North American headquarters to a 46,200-sq.-ft. facility in White Marsh, MD, that is LEED-certified for commercial interiors. It features a Danfoss energy management system, a high-efficiency heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system, high-performance windows, lavatories featuring low water volume toilets and waterless urinals, a white thermoplastic polyolefin roofing system, Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood, drought-tolerant landscaping and plants, and low volatile organic compound paints, carpets and adhesives.
The energy management system uses a Danfoss AK2-SC 255 controller, which
manages both the lighting and HVAC in the facility. Motion sensors ensure that lights are turned
off in unoccupied areas. The warehouse
area features skylights, ceiling lights that can be cycled off in two stages,
and super-efficient T-5 fluorescent light fixtures. All heating and air conditioning systems are
controlled by smart thermostats mounted in each area; the thermostats help
maximize energy efficiency.
