ISM: Economic growth will strengthen in 2003, says the Institute for Supply Management's 64th Semiannual Economic Forecast. Expectations are higher in both the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sectors, and both sectors are more optimistic about the coming year than they were one year ago. A sharp rise in ISM's report of manufacturing activity in December led to the 265-point gain in the Dow on the first trading day of the year Jan. 2.
