Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corp. reported that its affiliates sold 13,816 luxury homes priced above $1 million in 2003, a 24% increase vs. 2002. Sales of luxury homes rose 23%, the company said.

The 2003 Coldwell Banker Luxury Home Sales Report said that California continued to dominate luxury home sales, with six times more sales than any other state. The other states that made the top 10 for luxury home sales by dollar volume were Florida, Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, Hawaii, Washington and Minnesota.

The top 10 cities for luxury home sales in 2003, ranked by dollar volume, according to Coldwell Banker, were all in California: Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, Malibu, Newport Beach, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica, Los Altos, Rancho Santa Fe and Santa Barbara. Among the cities that ranked in the top 25 were Boca Raton, Fla.; Boston; Chicago; Westport, Conn.; Honolulu; and Washington, D.C.
