Established: 1883
In 1882, a group of tradesmen from New York City banded together to form the Master Plumbers Association of New York. Shortly afterward, a like-minded group joined forces in Brooklyn.
In 1883, the 125 members of the New York group formed the National Association of Master Plumbers (NAMP) to provide the public with a complete, safe and sanitary plumbing system. NAMP was the forerunner of the National Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (NAPHCC), which later became the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Association (PHCC).

A Word With…D.L. “Ike” Casey, Executive Vice President of PHCC - National Association

“PHCC is addressing changes that are taking place in our industry. Today’s contractor is seeking the best avenue to achieve business and personal success. This path is available through PHCC state and local associations. Our associations are refocusing their efforts to meet the challenges our members face. In addition, PHCC continues to be the voice for the plumbing, heating and cooling contractor in Washington , D.C., and in statehouses across the U.S. In 2007 and beyond, you will see PHCC become more active on state legislative issues to assure that high standards for professionalism are maintained. Also, there will be a greater emphasis on protecting the general public with proper codes.

“A growing, productive workforce is the key to our members’ future success, and PHCC is poised to provide the resources contractors need to build their workforce. Today’s electronic technology will be the platform for tomorrow’s successful association.  A visit to the PHCC Web site,www.phccweb.org, will give you a look at the most complete information on business and practical resources for p-h-c contractors, technicians and the general public.”
