Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. has created a new business unit dedicated to launching productivity and enhancing solutions in the Test and Measurement category. New products will launch in July, strategically targeting Milwaukee’s core end-users with a focus on electricians, plumbers and HVAC/R technicians.

“While others are retrenching, we’re investing. This Test & Measurement category is an opportunity for ‘disruptive’ innovation,” Milwaukee PresidentSteve RichmantoldPM. “Disruptive” in the fact that these new tools can shake-up the market, and will help solve problems end-users never knew they had.

The first wave of the new line includes innovative alkaline products, and applies Milwaukee’s lithium-ion technology to deliver additional tools on its growing M12 cordless platform.

In addition, Milwaukee will continue to develop this category as it moves forward in its corporate commitment to become a leader in the Test and Measurement category. "With a strong user base in electrical, HVAC/R, MRO and remodeling, there is an opportunity for Milwaukee to deliver overdue change to an under-served, dormant category,” Richman said. It has accomplished this with a complete start-up team in Seattle, that coordinates with its existing extensive team headquartered in Brookfield, Wisc.

Alkaline products include:
  • Voltage Detector with Work Light
  • Fork Meters
  • Laser Temp-Gun™ Thermometer
  • Digital Multimeter
  • Clamp Meters
Rechargeable M12 cordless products in the line include:
  • Sub-Scanner™ Detection Tool
  • Laser Temp-Gun™ Thermometers
  • Clamp-Gun™ Clamp Meters
“In this downturn, companies are being squeezed regarding productivity, and there is a sensitivity to price and how long it will take to get a job done,” Richman said. Many of these new units come in two separate models with distinct feature sets specifically tailored to the needs of the professional. According to the company, its commitment to developing trade-specific tools will allow it build this platform to offer industry-leading performance, safety and ergonomics.
