The Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute reported combined U.S. factory shipments of 374,689 central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in November were down 4%, compared to shipments from November 2003. Heat pump shipments of 116,524 were down almost 1%. Combined unitary shipments for the first 11 months of 2004 were up 9%.
