At the center of the new launch will be the new A.O. Smith logo, which will feature an innovative design and a new color. The company chose green, to replace the blue used since 1977 to represent its commitment to efficient products that will benefit the environment. In addition, it unveiled a new branding message: “Innovation Has A Name.”
President of A.O. Smith Water Products Co. Ajita Rajendra said in the announcement, “As businesses across the world make a conscious effort to make positive changes for the environment, we are working to add to our current list of energy-efficient products such as the Vertex™ and Cyclone®, by introducing new products to market.”
On Earth Day (April 22), A.O. Smith will launch its new Vertex 100, which will offer 96 percent thermal efficiency. It uses a top-fired burner and blower combination for more effective combustion, and delivers a continuous flow of hot water. The Vertex 100 features a sealed combustion system that draws air in and vents air out through sealed vents. With advanced diagnostic capabilities, it records performance history and has a backlit LCD display that details model functions including accurate temperature control.
With standard electrical/plumbing requirements and a footprint similar to conventional models, Vertex 100 uses the same electrical, water and gas connections as a standard power-direct-vent model. Using inexpensive PVC pipe for venting, the Vertex 100 does not require special materials, construction or ductwork.
