Sterling Heights, Mich.-based The Macomb Group has acquired the operations of Mechanical Supply Co., a North Carolina-based distributor of pipe, valves and fittings to commercial and industrial customers.

“We’ve been looking for the right opportunity in the Southeast for a number of years and see Mechanical Supply as having many of the same qualities as our own organization — putting customers and service first,” said Bill McGivern, CEO of The Macomb Group.

As the eighth-largest industrial distributor of pipe, valves and fittings, The Macomb Group now will operate 19 locations in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina.

“The Mechanical Supply Company and its 50-plus employees have a great reputation built on more than 30 years of serving North Carolina and surrounding markets and we are looking forward to have them as the center of our southeastern regional presence,” The Macomb Group Executive Vice President Keith Schatko said.

Scott Reid, co-founder and president of Mechanical Supply Company, noted the numerous similarities between the two organizations. “From the first conversation, it seemed like a perfect match. We’re excited to have joined The Macomb Group and look forward to the enhanced sector expertise we can continue to bring to our customers in areas such as automotive, power and energy as well as value-added services in valve automation and instrumentation, fabrication and many others.”

Mechanical Supply Co. now will operate as Mechanical Supply Co., a member of The Macomb Group.
