Brooklyn, N.Y.-based Solco Plumbing Supply hosted its America First Expo in late 2012 at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y., the home of baseball’s New York Mets.
The event drew 200 customers and 62 domestic vendors. Raffles for various American-made prizes were held and a number of vendor buying specials were offered. Mets great John Franco was there meeting attendees and signing autographs.
“These are tough times for American manufacturers and the distributors who support them,” Solco Director of Showrooms and Marketing Tom Acquavella said. “We believe in today’s economic environment it is especially important to remember the American manufacturer and the American worker. They make our country great.”
This was the second America First Expo Solco hosted. The first was held in 2010 at Fort Totten Military Base in Bayside, N.Y. The next event will be held in 2014 (keeping with the every-other-year theme).
“From both the customer and vendor side it was positive,” Acquavella said. “Our domestic manufacturing partners had the opportunity to meet our customers one-on-one and the customers enjoyed the buying specials and the education they were offered. Everybody benefitted.”
Solco, founded in 1960, has two locations in Brooklyn and one each in Manhattan and the Bronx with a new showroom location scheduled to open in the spring of 2013 in the downtown Brooklyn shopping district.
