Biggest growth for Canadian wholesalers was in industrial PVF for month of March and year-to-date.

TheCanadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating(CIPH) shared findings from the March 2011 sales report prepared by the Profit Planning Group (PPG). Total product sales were up 4.8% for March 2011 compared with March 2010.

For the month of March 2011, hydronics was up 1.8%; plumbing rose by 5.8%; and PVF sales increased by 31%.

Year-to-date, all product sales were up 4.1%. Plumbing increased by 4.8% and PVF rose by 21.8%. PPG said industrial PVF had a huge month of growth, particularly in Alberta and the West (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Thunder Bay).

Sales for HVAC/R and waterworks were down for both March and year-to-date.The longer than anticipated cold weather and snow may have negatively impacted waterworks business.

All provinces except for the Atlantic region (New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador) enjoyed sales increases both for March and year-to-date.
