At the annual convention and trade show of the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers held in Providence, RI, industry professionals were honored for their service and scholarships were presented to 12 students.

Oil Heat Cares was a focal point of the event, with volunteers being honored and funds raised.

Bob Craig was given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding service and commitment to the industry at the opening reception.

At the Awards Banquet, the New York Chapter received the Oil Heat Cares Cup for their work at the Lawrence F. Keene American Legion Post in the Bronx. Led by Angel Gonzalez, students from the Alfred E. Smith Vocation Career School worked side by side with professional installers.

The renamed Lou Ehrlich Award (previously known as the Associate of the Year Award) was given to Robert O'Rourke, Westchester Chapter.

The Technician of the Year Award was presented to Wayne Lawrence, Petro.

The Manufacturer of the Year Award was given to Hydrolevel.

Judy Garber was honored by the Rhode Island Chapter with a basket of products from Rhode Island.

Ed Frazier was presented with the Instructor of the Year Award and Al Breda, Sippin Energy, member of the Fairfield County and New Haven Chapters received the Service Manager of the Year Award.

 Scott Hinkley was the Hugh McKee Award winner.

The recipients of the Dave Nelson Scholarship were also honored at the Awards Banquet. Twelve students were awarded $2,000 scholarships: Michael Foley, Benjamin Forst, Matthew Fulmer, David Gidron, Ryan Gombert, Nathan Higgins, Michael McMahon, Ronald Mannino, Joseph Manzo, Alrick Crowe, Bradley Rydbom, and Jesse Sutherland.

Motorcyclists, cyclists, and walkers gathered for the Care to Ride fundraising event. Kevin Bowman, Mark Chaffee and Don Farrell organized the routes. This year's event raised more than $58,000 for Oil Heat Cares. The top fundraisers by category were:
  • Team: Team Connecticut
  • Walking: Judy Garber
  • Biking and Overall: Roger Marran
  • Motorcycling: David Bessette

The Oil Heat Cares Board of Directors also welcomed new members. They are John Levey of Oilheat Associates, Don Farrell ofOilheatingMagazine, and Paul Cuprewich of Wooley Fuel in Maplewood NJ. He and the others mentioned will help grow its mission of helping those in need.
