ASA Introduces Benchmarking Program
The ASA Executive Committee recently approved funding for a monthly data collection and analysis program that will provide ASA members with sales and market condition information as a member service.
“An association exists to support its members with activities, tools and resources that allow them to run the most profitable business possible,” shared Mike Adelizzi, ASA executive vice president. “Not in our recent history has that been more important than now given the market conditions faced by our members. They need information that is timely and useful, and it is our role as an association to deliver it.”
ASA member wholesalers and vendors will be able to access this data via the ASA website, beginning in February 2009. This report is available exclusively to ASA members and will be provided as an added value of membership at no additional cost this year.
Distributor members will receive surveys the first week of each month. Information will be sent to a third-party company, Industry Insights, who has partnered with ASA for over 25 years on the ASA Operating Performance Report. This third-party, using a secure server, ensures confidentiality for the participating wholesaler and accurate information processing. Reports will begin with January 2009 data and will be available by mid-month of the following month going forward.
“We strongly encourage all ASA member wholesalers to participate in this program. It’s costs nothing and the more respondents we have, the more valuable the information to everyone involved,” concluded Adelizzi.
