One of the more interesting findings of an online adult consumer research study was that 22% of respondents in both the United States and Canada said they have sex in the shower. Of these respondents, more U.S. males (26%) reported having sex in the shower than their female counterparts (18%), while more Canadian females (24%) reported having sex in the shower than male Canadian respondents (19%).
The survey, conducted by LCWA Research on behalf of GROHE, found that homeowners are also using their showers for other purposes, including:
- Washing pets
- Household cleaning
- Beer cooler
- Fish tank
- Playpen for kids
- Thawing turkey
- Cat fountain/dish while on vacation
- Cat litter box
- Storing/hiding things
- Spare bed
Singing in the shower remains a popular pastime. The survey found that 29% of U.S. consumers and 26% of consumers in Canada sing rock ‘n roll songs while showering; 20% of U.S. respondents and 17% of Canadian respondents sing country music in the shower.
The top five songs while showering are:
- “Singing in the Rain”
- Original tunes
Other in-shower activities reported include: clean the shower - 20% of U.S. and 24% of Canadian respondents; brush their teeth - 17% of U.S. respondents and 14% of Canadian respondents; think - 55% of U.S. respondents and 56% of Canadian respondents; plan their day - 25% of U.S. respondents and 29% of Canadian respondents.
When asked about the best idea or decision made while taking a shower, 15% of U.S. respondents and 8% of Canadian respondents cited such major decisions as quitting/switching jobs, starting a new business, going back to school, moving, getting married/divorced, having kids, quitting smoking and being a better person.
The survey also asked which male or female respondents would most like to see in the shower. Angelina Jolie, Jessica Alba and Pamela Anderson topped both the U.S. and Canadian surveys, while Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp led in the male category. (Mel Gibson tied with Johnny Depp in Canadian responses.)
