It has just been reported that industry dealer Pro-Build Holdings has agreed to purchase the LBM division of HD Supply, further segmenting the supplier. The letter of intent states that Pro-Build will “acquire substantially all of the assets” of the Lumber & Building Materials business, which operates out of 19 lumberyards in the Atlanta area and 20 in Florida.

HD Supply currently is owned by three private equity groups, Bain Capital; The Carlyle Group; and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Inc., which purchased the business from Home Depot on Aug. 23 for $8.5 billion.

Pro-Build operates more than 520 locations nationwide with an established presence in Georgia and Florida. Last year, the company bought Hope Lumber, a chain of 49 lumberyards. Earlier this year, Pro-Build bought Dunn Lumber, a seven-unit pro dealer headquartered in Daytona Beach, Fla.
