The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) hired Pete DeMarco as its new Director of Special Programs.

DeMarco will join IAPMO in November and is expected to develop new programs to support green plumbing technology, products, systems and applications.

DeMarco leaves American Standard after working for more than 32 years. He held many positions in the engineering and marketing departments, including technical services manager, manager of codes and standards and product manager for commercial fixtures.

He has also served the industry in leadership roles for various trade groups, code bodies and government agencies. DeMarco helped develop the EPA’s WaterSense program, a market initiative for water-saving plumbing products.

“Pete has been on the leading edge of reducing water usage,” said Russ Chaney, IAPMO’s executive director.

“He is extremely familiar with the demands manufacturers and jurisdictions face regarding water conservation. IAPMO has a long history in involvement in GREEN issues, and he will significantly strengthen our commitment to this extremely important global challenge,” said Chaney.
