Joseph R. (Joe) Cheuvront, 83, died June 21 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. He was president of the Central Wholesalers Association (CWA) in 1984/85 and was a member of the board of directors of the American Supply Association for three years.

Joseph R. (Joe) Cheuvront, 83, died June 21 at Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. He was president of the Central Wholesalers Association (CWA) in 1984/85 and was a member of the board of directors of the American Supply Association for three years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946, including a tour of duty in the European Theatre. After his discharge, he started and managed several businesses in Bridgeport, WV, including Cheuvronts Inc., a plumbing and heating company and a grocery store, Cheuvront Brothers Builders and Cheuvront and Frush Real Estate and Insurance. Some were in partnership with his brother, Charlie, and Charlie's wife, Gayle. In the 1950s Joe Cheuvront was office manager for B&G Olsen Co., a Richmond, VA-based mechanical contractor, then in 1957, he and his wife, Helen, started Cheuvront's Supply, a plumbing and heating wholesale business, in Lewisburg, VA. In 1959 Joe and Helen Cheuvront partnered with Charlie and Gayle Cheuvront to start Weslakin Corp., a mechanical contracting and plumbing business that grew into a plumbing and heating wholesale supply business serving most of West Virginia. Joe Cheuvront served as CEO and general manager until the business was sold to Hajoca Corp. in 1985, at which time he retired.
