Companies Rebuild New York Fire Station

After the Sept. 11 attacks in New York, Dierks Heating Co. helped repair Engine Company 10/Ladder Company 10. John Dierks, vice president and HVAC contractor, arranged for the donation of equipment and labor from a variety of industry sources to restore the building's HVAC system.

The company performed the work at no cost to the fire department. Manufacturers such as Bell & Gossett, Carrier, McQuay and Milwaukee Valve and the Mechanical Contractors Association of New York also participated. The estimated total value of donated equipment and time was more than $400,000.

This summer, the fire department presented the contractors and suppliers with plaques recognizing their contributions toward rebuilding the station.
